What You Need To Know About CO2 Laser Treatment and LaseMD

Did anyone else watch Shakira (age 43) and Jennifer Lopez (age 51) perform at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show and ask themselves, “how do they look that good at 50?”  Don’t start comparing yourself or beating yourself up just yet. Gorgeous celebrities in their 40s, 50s, and 60s look that good because they have access to the best anti-aging laser treatments on the market.

Guess what? Thanks to Qazi Cosmetic Clinic – a premiere MedSpa in Orange County, CA – you can have access to those magical, age-defying treatments too! The secret to amazing, youthful skin is the CO2 laser treatment.

What is the CO2 Laser Treatment?

The CO2 laser is a type of laser that can be ablative or non- ablative to safely resurface the skin in order to treat cosmetic concerns like scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and sun damage. The CO2 laser treatment rejuvenates the skin by causing controlled damage to the surface layers of the skin. This will activate your body’s natural healing abilities to repair the damage, thus also repairing skin imperfections like sun damage and wrinkles.

Many patients in Orange County love the CO2 laser because it provides them with age-defying results without the downtime of plastic surgery. This is not your mother’s face lift! Gone are the days that women had to go under the knife to get their youth back. No more bandaged faces, avoiding the neighbors for weeks, and no more whispers of “has she had work done?” behind your back.

Dr. Qazi’s unique non-invasive, non-surgical cosmetic procedures are designed to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence. Because these procedures are non-invasive, you can quickly return to work, school, and your other obligations.

The results also look very natural, so you will still look like yourself – just a younger, happier, more glowing version.

3 Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

In the world of cosmetic procedures, there are a variety of treatments available for every cosmetic concern. Resurfacing your skin with laser treatments does have some benefits over other procedures.

  1. Benefit #1: The CO2 laser is significantly more precise than other treatments. This means that it can target tiny areas of the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. If you only want to treat a small area of your face, like the eyes or around the mouth, then laser treatment is a good option for you.
  1. Benefit #2: For a majority of patients, they achieve their desired results after only one treatment. Other procedures, like RF microneedling, may require multiple treatments to achieve the same skin tightening. Because the CO2 laser can penetrate deeply into the skin, it is able to address many different cosmetic concerns in one session.
  1. Benefit #3: Laser treatment is highly effective for treating more severe cosmetic concerns. Patients who have heavy wrinkles, significant pigmentation, extensive acne scarring, and facial warts often find that other treatments can’t help them. However, laser skin resurfacing has the power to correct even the most severe cosmetic issues and can do so with precision and certainty. This treatment is ideal for smokers lines around the mouth, and wrinkles around the eyes.

    The Combination Treatment: Introducing LaseMD

    What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a revolutionary new skin rejuvenation program that utilizes both the power of lasers and state-of-the-art NanoSerums to completely transform your skin.

This procedure can be beneficial for men and women of all ages who want to reduce brown spots, red patches, and sun damage. It has become increasingly popular with older women who want to treat their sun damaged skin and brighten their complexion.

    Benefits of the LaseMD treatment:

    1. Improved the skin tone and complexion
    2. Fewer fine lines and scars on the skin
    3. Smaller pores
    4. Reduce pigmentation
    5. Facial rejuvenation
    6. Complete anti-aging results

How LaseMD and CO2 Laser Treatment Work in Combination to Improve Your Appearance

LaseMD and CO2 lasers are highly effective treatments on their own; however, when used in combination, they can provide even more radiant results

This is because the CO2 laser is ideal for completely resurfacing the skin to treat wrinkles and large pores. On the other hand, LaseMD is designed to rejuvenate the skin and treat sun damage, discoloration, and pigmentation.

The combination treatment is very popular among older women. Many older patients look in the mirror and hate their wrinkles and sun damage. They may think that it makes them look old and tired. Many patients get CO2 laser treatment thinking that if only their wrinkles were gone, they would look young again. They expect to immediately return to the youthful glow that they remember from their younger years. However, after experiencing decades of aging, the effects of gravity, and a full life, it isn’t easy to take the skin back to how it looked when you were young.

The CO2 laser is a treatment for wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scars; it is not a skin time machine. However, LaseMD can be the skin time machine that you are after. It is designed to rejuvenate and transform the skin for a midlife “glow up.” After receiving CO2 laser treatment to get rid of unsightly wrinkles, LaseMD can put that extra bright glow back into your skin.

LaseMD is especially effective for sun damage. You know all those spots that start appearing on your face and hands? Those dark spots that finally made you realize that you’re getting old? LaseMD is a great solution because it can easily reverse sun damage in a quick, comfortable 30 minute session.

Many older patients enjoy a LaseMD session once a week to maintain their perfect skin. Whether you are raising kids or helping with the grandkids, a relaxing session can give you the break that you need. If you are at the height of your career and find yourself always on the run, a quick session is easy to fit into a busy schedule. It will give you the boost of energy that you need and send you into important meetings with a new confidence and a pep in your step.

Dr. Qazi’s Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions

Will CO2 Laser Treatment Work on Darker Skin Tones?

Yes, a CO2 laser treatment can be safe for darker skin tones when used correctly by a laser specialist. Dr. Qazi at Qazi Cosmetic Clinic in Newport Beach, CA uses C02 laser treatments on all skin types with a variety of skilled settings. A treatment plan will differ from one skin type to another to make sure your treatment is effective and safe for your skin. There are many other options that are also safe for dark skin tones. Pico laser treatment, RF microneedling, and chemical peels can achieve beautiful results without the risk of damaging your skin.

If you are unsure whether laser treatment will be effective on your skin tone, be sure to schedule a consultation at Qazi Cosmetic Clinic. Dr. Qazi will listen to your aesthetic goals and cosmetic concerns, then make a recommendation for a procedure that is suitable for you.

    Will Laser Treatment Hurt?

This is a very common question. There is minimal to none pain expected as there are many options for pain control. A topical numbing cream or injectable lidocaine will be used prior to your treatment. The team at Qazi Cosmetic Clinic takes great precautions to keep you safe and comfortable. While you may feel sensations of warmth on your face from the laser, it will not be painful. All laser treatments also require the use of special glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the lasers.

How Long Until I See My Results?

Because the CO2 laser is resurfacing your skin, some downtime for healing is required. Expect this to take between five days or two weeks. If performed aggressively, the first few days, you can expect some mild swelling and discomfort. Around day 5, you can expect your skin to crust and flake. Some redness will persist for a few weeks. If done in multiple sessions, you can expect dryness and irritation for only a few days.

After at least 5 to 14 days post-treatment, it is safe to wear makeup again. During the recovery process, antibiotic ointment or medications may be prescribed to prevent infection and promote healing.

After the healing process is complete within a few weeks, then you will see your new, beautiful skin. The laser resurfacing process also promotes collagen production in the skin. It can take up to 6 months for the effects of the collagen boost to show.

While this may seem like a long time to wait and recover, it is definitely worth the wait because you will emerge from the 2 week recovery period with baby soft skin that you can enjoy for a long time!

What Side Effects Should I Be Aware Of?

Every procedure comes with risks and side effects. The best wait to avoid adverse side effects is to follow all post-treatment instructions and to only receive procedures from a board-certified physician and laser expert. Lasers are more powerful than many people realize and should not be administered without proper certifications.

Some possible side effects include: burns or injuries related to the laser’s heat, scarring, changes to skin pigment (can be areas that are darker or lighter than before), reactivation of old herpes-related cold sores, bacterial infection, and milia (small, cyst-like bumps under the skin) that may appear during the healing process.

What To Expect During Your Treatment

Whether you only opt for laser skin resurfacing or choose to get the LaseMD combination treatment, this is what to expect during your visit to Qazi Cosmetic Clinic in Orange County, CA.

During your consultation, Dr. Qazi will come up with a customized plan that will best treat your skin tone and type. The consultation is a great time to ask questions and get expert answers. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, you may be asked to arrive early then wait in your car until it is time for your appointment. Under normal circumstances, you should arrive 15 minutes early to give yourself extra time to fill out any necessary forms.

If you have questions or concerns before your procedure, you can ask them at any time. You will be taken into one of our comfortable, private treatment rooms and prepared for the procedure.

In order to keep you comfortable for the CO2 laser treatment, you will be given specialized glasses to protect your eyes and a numbing cream will be applied. It can take up to 30 minutes to apply the numbing cream and for your skin to be ready for the treatment. The application of the CO2 laser device is fairly quick compared to other cosmetic procedures. Dr. Qazi will strategically use the device over the treatment area. If you are having your entire face treated, it may take up to 20 minutes for your session.

After the laser treatment is done, you are free to relax while the numbing cream wears off. Dr. Qazi may also apply a serum to the treated area to reduce risk of infection.

You are safe to drive yourself home after the procedure, but don’t plan on doing anything too strenuous You should definitely avoid heavy exercise, sun exposure, and excessive alcohol consumption until the area is mostly healed. The results will come out the best if you take it easy during the recovery period. This is a great time to eat ice cream and watch rom-coms!

      Recovery Tips & Tricks

      • Follow Dr. Qazi’s recommendations on which skin care treatments it is safe to use.
      • As soon as it is safe to put sunscreen on your face again, be sure to wear it whenever you are out in the sun. No exceptions! Too much sun exposure can damage your skin and completely reverse your results.
      • Try to stay on your back when you sleep.
      • Use a cold compress to ice the treatment area in the first few days to ease swelling and discomfort.
      • Avoid smoking. Tobacco smoke can increase your risk of adverse side effects during the healing process. Smoking can also damage your results and speed up the aging process long term.
