What Are The Benefits of Fillers Under Eyes?

Your eyes are the most expressive features on your face.
Even when we’re wearing masks, eyes can express love, display happiness, reflect sadness, or show displeasure. But if the area directly beneath your eyes is hollow-looking, you may benefit from non-surgical fillers under eyes.
After all, the French have said, “The eyes are the mirror of the soul”, while Cicero in ancient Rome claimed, “The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter”.
If you wear glasses or sunglasses, the areas under your eyes still deserve some love. So why not consider a quick, effective procedure using an advanced filler, such as Voluma under eyes, to improve the hollowness you see in your tear troughs?
What Is The Best Filler for Hollow Eyes?
There are a variety of dermal fillers that can effectively treat this sensitive area.
Hyaluronic acid (also known as HA) is an FDA-approved, naturally occurring sugar molecules complex that is found in your body. This family of popular products is absorbed into your body over time. They add volume, provide you with a less tired look, as well as giving you a more youthful appearance. But a softer filler under the lower eyelid is preferable.
Of the many formula options available with different strengths, JUVÉDERM is the world’s #1 injectable dermal filler collection with five different products to meet specific needs. In particular, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC injectable gel is for deep injection into your cheek are to correct any age-related volume loss in adults over age 21.
Specifically, VOLUMA’s technology is injected into tissue, which provides some lift and volume to smooth lines and contour cheeks under your eyes to get the results you want. This is a unique product on the market vs. other dermal fillers, excellent for the cheek and jawline areas to provide a bit more structure and extra lift.
Why Do You Need Filler Under Your Eyes?
As we age, our cheeks tend to flatten, causing your skin to sag. This, in turn, causes a natural volume loss in your cheek areas, under your eyes. Voluma fillers under eyes add volume beneath your skin’s surface, providing lift and contour to your cheek areas.
Also, if you’re a smoker or if you spend a lot of time in the sun without sunscreen or proper eyewear, your eyes can be affected as well, from your lower lids to your upper cheeks.

Why Do You Need A Voluma Under Eyes Filler for Bags?
Just about everyone develops bags at one time or another under your eyes, regardless of age. In fact, using cosmetic fillers to treat these “bags” is a very popular cosmetic procedure.
Bags make us look older than we actually are, make us look more tired, and make us look unattractive. Fillers like Voluma are quick and effective when injected safely and carefully by Dr. Nadir Qazi in that area, but only for patients who have small or slight bags. Using fillers for large bags can actually add more volume, causing the bags to become even larger and puffier.
Who Had The Most Famous and Stunning Eyes?
Of all the stars in the entertainment industry, these performers are noted for their eyes:
- Elizabeth Taylor was a glamorous actress, especially heralded for her violet eyes and accentuating make-up in “Cleopatra”.
- Paul Newman was known for his sky blue eyes, AKA “Butch Cassidy” and “The Hustler”.
- Robert Redford is another blue-eyed actor, AKA “The Sundance Kid” and “The Natural”.
- Frank Sinatra, singer of “Ol Blue Eyes Is Back” and Oscar®-winning actor for “From Here to Eternity”.
- Cameron Diaz with her blonde hair and blue-eyes stole the spotlight in “The Mask” and definitely does not need fillers under eyes.
- Marilyn Monroe had beautiful, brown oval-shaped eyes. She was terrific in all kinds of movies, from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” to “The Seven Year Itch” to “Some Like It Hot”.
- Audrey Hepburn was well known for her doe-like eyes in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.

Who Is A Good Candidate For an Under Eyes Procedure?
Just about anyone can benefit from a Voluma under eyes procedure that can:
- Add more shape
- Add more volume
- And create greater definition under your eyes and in your cheeks.
The areas that are most often helped with this particular dermal filler include:
- Your cheeks

However, an initial consultation with an expert like Dr. Nadir Qazi at Qazi Cosmetic Clinic and Med Spa in Newport Beach, California, will determine if advanced fillers on the face are the best option for you.
How Eye Fillers Can Help Your Facial Appearance
Whether you have “hollow” looking eyes or just want more volume around your eyes, injections of hyaluronic acid under your eyes can work wonders.
Dr. Qazi is a highly qualified and trained provider of Voluma XC. This is an excellent product when used as soft tissue fillers under eyes that is designed to temporarily add volume to your facial wrinkles for a smoother appearance to your face. It also combats hollow, sunken areas, or wrinkles that are not attractive.
Will It Be Painful?
When you get a JUVÉDERM Voluma XC injection under your eyes, you will first be numbed with a topical medical-grade numbing agent, followed by the Voluma injection, which typically includes lidocaine –– a local anesthetic.
The lidocaine in the gel improves the comfort of the injection by reducing your sensitivity to pain. If you happen to be allergic to lidocaine, another option is available.
What Precautions Should You Take On Voluma Under Eyes Treatment Day?
As with other dermal fillers, we recommend that you do not exercise on the day of your treatment.
You should also avoid blood thinners and medications, such as aspirin and Plavix, which may increase bleeding. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with Dr. Qazi.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Side effects are rare for injections of Voluma XC, but may include some of the following temporary reactions:
- Swelling –– filler works immediately, so you will have some visible swelling.
- Tenderness
- Firmness
- Lumps or bumps
- Bruising
- Pain
- Redness
- Discoloration
- Itching
Within about one week after your injections, the majority (about 90%) of your swelling should be reduced, while you may have some bruising. But after two weeks, any bruising and swelling should be gone –– and you should look great!
What Are The Eye-Opening Results?
A Voluma injection can typically only take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated, there is no downtime, and discomfort is minimal for fillers under eyes.
But the results can be extremely eye-opening, especially when you see the “before” and “after” photos for your hollow-looking eyes vs. fuller, more voluminous cheeks under your eyes.
Results typically take about two weeks after your initial treatment and can last up to two years for this particular injectable with an optimal treatment. Because of this, we recommend follow-up visits to maintain the results you want under your eyes with more structure and more volume.
What is the Cost for Eye Fillers?
The cost for any non-invasive cosmetic procedure like Voluma under eyes fillers depends on the number of appointments and the number of vials of the injectables you may need to achieve optimal results. All of this will be discussed at your initial consultation with Dr. Qazi.
What Are Aftercare Instructions for A Fillers Under Eyes Procedure.
Dr. Qazi, Qazi Cosmetic Clinic & Med Spa founder, takes the time to meet with every patient to discuss treatment options –– before, during, and especially after a procedure. This is particularly important after a dermal filler injection where it is typical to notice some swelling, bruising, red puncture marks, soreness, or itchiness.
Please note that any of these post-injection issues listed below are all common and should resolve themselves in the next few days up to a week or longer, as your final results will usually be seen about two weeks after your treatment.
Then, we can assess whether you will need a further treatment to achieve your aesthetic goals in our Orange County office.
What to avoid after getting under eyes fillers injections:
- We recommend that you not schedule any important events for at least 3 to 6 days post-procedure because swelling can occur.
- Please do not touch your face for at least six hours; you can then use water and a gentle cleanser.
- Do not put pressure on the treated area by sleeping on your face or performing any exercises by putting your face below your heart.
- Do not use a steam room or sauna for at least two weeks.
- Do not engage in vigorous physical activity for 12 hours.
- Do not use AHA, Retinols, Vitamin C, or oil-based make-up for 3 days.
- Do not wash your face with hot water for 3 days.
- Do not exfoliate your incision site for 5 days.
- Do not consume alcohol, coffee, or fish oil for 2 days.
What to take for pain relief for fillers under your eyes:
- We recommend Tylenol (Acetaminophen) for any discomfort; you should avoid Ibuprofen or Naproxen for the first 3 days after your procedure.
- Avoid NSAIDS and other blood thinners which can lead to increased bruising.
What to do about bruising and swelling:
If you do experience bruising and swelling under your eyelids, which is typical, apply a cool compress or arnica gel.
Follow-up appointment for Voluma under eyes:
Dr. Qazi will review the results of your VOLUMA XC injections 2 to 4 weeks after your appointment; an earlier appointment will not enable the dermal filler enough time to fully activate.
What Are Some Testimonials About Dermal Fillers?
Each patient’s satisfaction is our number one priority. Here are some recent testimonials from a few of them about dermal fillers and other procedures:
“Definitely was nervous about getting cheek and under eye fillers for the first time. I definitely did not want to look ‘overdone’ so it took me a looooong time to finally decide on going to Dr. Qazi’s office. I loved how he was super honest with me. He really seemed to just want what was best for my face. He ended up using Restylane on my face and a different product (Voluma XC) under my eyes and I honestly could not be happier with the results. There was also barely any bruising at all for me. He just really knew how to do it. Now I want to save and do a few more tweaks with him.”
– Vy V., Irvine CA
“I love this place! Dr. Qazi and his staff are so nice. Plus the office is beautiful. I came in for lip, tear trough, and cheek filler. Plus Dysport for masseter reduction/TMJ. I was very impressed with how thorough he was and I am so happy with my results so far (I’m still healing) but WOW. I am so impressed by Dr. Qazi’s talent and expertise and would definitely recommend him to anyone thinking about getting a cosmetic procedure!”
– Hailey D., Irvine CA
“I am obsessed with how my face looks now. I originally found Dr. Qazi through his Instagram page because I was looking for a good dermatologist and I saw that his patient’s never looked overdone but the tweaks still looked great. So I noticed I had hollowness and dark circles under my eyes but since I had never done fillers before, I was not sure what exactly should be done here.He basically recommended a few different treatments. First, he did treatments under the eye which worked great for the darkness and then he fixed the hollowness with some filler. He also did just a little on my cheeks to lift this up some more. For anyone else who has genetic dark circles, you guys know that everyone always says how tired we look (when we are not). This really helped me so much. Thanks again.”
– Michelle K., Irvine CA
“I am seriously in love with this place. I have terrible dark circles and so Dr. Qazi recommended under eye fillers. It’s been several months now and my eyes still look amazing. I love his combined approach and I am saving up for some other fillers soon! I also need to do some Botox again. He really is one of the best dermatologists in Orange County.”
