Radiofrequency Microneedling for Improved Skin Appearance and Quality

radiofrequency microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling is a revolutionary treatment that is available to patients of all skin tones who are suffering from many common skin problems. If you are even slightly unhappy with the look or feel of your skin, you owe it to yourself to try Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling.

What is Radiofrequency Microneedling?

Radiofrequency microneedling is essentially a treatment that uses the powerful combination of microneedling with radiofrequency laser energy. Fine needles puncture the skin at a specific depth and shoot a laser to produce collagen and kill bacteria. The machine’s settings can be customized in various ways to suit each patient’s unique skin type and challenges.

In most cases, after the treatment area is numbed with a topical numbing cream, the radiofrequency with microneedling tips move down three millimeters into the skin to generate collagen in a scientifically proven method. Dr. Nadir Qazi or your local provider will determine which laser tip is appropriate for your skin during your consultation. The light selected ultimately hinges on the patient’s skin tone and texture.

An insulated blue tip is commonly used for darker patients or acneic skin and a non insulated red tip is commonly used for fair skinned patients.

Radiofrequency Microneedling is favored far and wide as it is minimally invasive.

There is no need for any type of in-depth, complicated and invasive surgery when you opt for this revolutionary approach.  This procedure will tighten and contour the skin around your neck, face and other parts of your body.  This medical technology works through the stimulation of the body’s generation of collagen, creating immediate results that only get better as time progresses.

From wrinkles to acne scars, stretch marks, large pores and beyond, radiofrequency microneedling addresses skin problems of varying types.

Furthermore, those who simply desire glowing skin will find this treatment quite helpful. This approach to enhancing skin aesthetics and quality combines the use of conventional microneedling with radiofrequency energy.

In short, this treatment involves the use of uber-fine needles that move down into the skin to transmit radiofrequency energy in the form of heat.  This energy moves down deep into the skin layers, keeping the upper layer fully intact and without irritation.

Dr. Qazi will work with you to enhance your skin and produce surprisingly rapid results with minimal downtime.

The skin layers below the surface regenerate, moving upward, ultimately boosting visual appeal.  Our medical spa staff members will carefully customize the energy level based on your unique skin type as well as your tolerance, helping you overcome your specific skin problem(s).

Is radiofrequency microneedling right for you?

Regardless of your specific skin problem, there is a good chance you can benefit from this treatment.  Patients with acne scars, other scars, expansive pores and wrinkles are the primary beneficiaries.

Whether you have recently undergone thyroid surgery, breast augmentation, a tummy tuck or another surgery, you will benefit from this treatment to diminish your scarring.

In fact, those who have extensive acne scarring that seemed impossible to reverse will enjoy impressive results after merely a couple sessions.  However, if you do not have any of the skin problems detailed above and are simply looking for a way to enhance the appearance of your aging skin, you still qualify as a suitable candidate for this unique treatment modality.

Between fine lines, wrinkles, pore problems and diminished skin texture and tone, Dr. Nadir Qazi can help improve skin problems of all types.

It does not matter if you have tan, especially dark or light-hued skin; we will work with your skin color no matter how light or dark it is.  In fact, this FDA-approved method of skin enhancement even improves the appearance of stretch marks.

    Is there any downtime?

No.  There is no downtime.  Furthermore, there is minimal, if any redness as this treatment modality is incredibly precise.  There is no need to worry about the potential irritation of the upper layer of the skin known as the epidermis.  Though your skin will be slightly sensitive and lightly flushed after this treatment, there will not be any down time.

Your primary responsibility after treatment is to apply to safeguard your sensitive skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays.  The sensitivity will fade within a couple days, ensuring you look that much more radiant and healthy.

All in all, it takes between three and six weeks for skin appearance to complete its improvement.

Thankfully, these impressive results stand the test of time as the generation of collagen and elastin spurred by the treatment will accelerate across the ensuing six months.  Minimize strenuous activity across the next couple days after your treatment, take short showers/baths and you will be good to go.

    Is radiofrequency microneedling safe?

Absolutely.  This treatment is completely safe regardless of your specific skin tone or challenges.  The red light is suitable for patients with fair skin.  The blue tip is insulated and perfectly safe for skin of darker tones.  Patients are provided with sterile tips provided in a unique package for each treatment session.

Tips are never used repeatedly from one patient to the next.  While many other resurfacing treatments, peels and lasers remove layers of skin, posing the threat of lasting alterations to pigmentation of skin with comparably dark skin tones, radiofrequency microneedling resurfacing poses no such threat.  Rather, this approach uses heat as opposed to potentially harmful chemicals.

Furthermore, this does not require removing layers of the skin.

Therefore, radiofrequency microneedling really is that much safer than other approaches to skin improvement for patients with dark skin.

This careful approach is quite unique compared to outdated microneedling technologies that use a pen or roller that has the potential to tear the skin amidst treatment, causing considerable pain.  Rather, it relies on uber-fine, gold-tipped and insulated needles that move into the skin without tearing.

A specialized numbing cream is added to the skin half an hour prior to the treatment.  Furthermore, our medical spa even goes to the extent of adding a soothing mask following the treatment to facilitate skin cooling and minimizing redness.

The typical patient reports this treatment feels slightly warm and somewhat similar to a pinch, meaning it does not cause significant discomfort.

How to get the best result with Radiofrequency Microneedling?

Follow our detailed aftercare instructions as detailed above and you will have done your part to obtain the optimal results with radiofrequency microneedling.

As stated above, it is in your interest to follow these steps:

    • Avoid the sun and hot water when showering or washing your face.
    • Resist the temptation to apply makeup in the immediate aftermath of this treatment.
    • Do not return to your regular skincare routine immediately after this specialized treatment as doing so could compromise the impact of the microneedling magic.
    • Be sure to use a medical grade skincare product with Retin-A, Ferulic acids, Vitamin C and Vitamin E to help your skin look and feel amazing. Dr. Nadir Qazi recommends Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum to maintain your glow.

Your skin might look pink and feel warm after treatment.  This is perfectly normal.  The warmth, tightness and pink hue should subside a couple hours after treatment.

However, there is no reason to panic if your skin still feels tight or looks red 24 hours after the treatment.  It might take upwards of 48-72 hours for your skin to return to normal.  Be patient, adhere to the aftercare advice detailed above and your skin will return to normal sooner rather than later.

    • It will also help to avoid tanning beds and water aside from a brief shower for the 72 hours following treatment.
    • Avoid sweating in the 72 hours after treatment. Opt for a brisk walk instead of strenuous exercise in this period of time.
    • Avoid the gym as this space is likely rife with bacteria that has the potential to cause an adverse skin reaction.

    Radiofrequency Microneedling vs. Dermapen

radiofrequency microneedling is much more targeted than simply using a Dermapen.  Furthermore, there is less downtime than required with Dermapen.  Dermapen, sometimes referred to with the abbreviation of DP, is also less appealing as it irritates the upper layer of the skin, causing more redness.

Furthermore, Dermapen treatment does not go nearly deep enough to generate the targeted aesthetic improvement.

While this treatment can be customized for each individual patient, there is no way to customize Dermapen skin treatment.  Rather, the same Dermapen treatment is used for every single patient, regardless of his or her skin type and unique skin challenges.

While some people insist Dermapen works, what matters most is the extent of the treatment’s success.  Compare the results of Dermapen and you will find radiofrequency microneedling is superior.

Radiofrequency is transmitted in a controlled manner, stimulating the all-important collagen.  This approach allows for our medical spa team to control every single factor ranging from depth to dwell time, power and beyond.  Alternatively, Dermapen is an automatic device with comparably less control.

Microneedling technology is also favored as it has minimal risk yet produces top-notch results.  Let’s take a closer look at the differences between radiofrequency microneedling with radiofrequency and Dermapen.

    Penetration Level

The typical penetration level is down deep into the skin with the transmission of energy beyond the needling point.  This comparably deep penetration provides a significantly better result than that possible with Dermapen.

    Safety

This specialized approach relies on fully sanitary gold-plated needles that are completely disconnected from the head of the machine.  The end result is a full prevention of every potential risk including the prospect of cross-contamination.  The same simply cannot be said of Dermapen.

The Intensity and Depth can be Adjusted

radiofrequency microneedling with radiofrequency allows for comparably more customization.  This approach can be a simple and easy mild treatment or, alternatively, it can move down deep into the skin with several passes and a comparably high intensity level.  In short, Dr. Qazi has the potential to significantly alter the look of your face, neck or another part of your body while Dermapen will not make nearly as much of a meaningful impact.  Dermapen and other conventional microneedling have comparably few variables available to produce a specific outcome.

    Treating Acne Scars

Acne scars are somewhat challenging to eliminate as they are diminutive, rough patches of girthy skin with considerable damage.  However, radiofrequency microneedling with radiofrequency does a remarkable job of breaking apart this material as opposed to other treatment modalities that often simply poke holes in the acne scarring.  In fact, Dr. Qazi is capable of focusing energy directly into the locations of acne scarring in a repeated fashion for a highly-targeted treatment that produces the intended result.
