Scarless Neck Lift – 5 Best Options for Skin Tightening

If you want to look younger without visible scars, a scarless neck lift may be right for you. Patients often focus on treating the face. However, the neck can also give away your age. Qazi Cosmetic Clinic offers both surgical and minimally invasive treatment options. Patients of all ages can get natural-looking results without harming their skin.

What is a Scarless Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a procedure that treats wrinkles, excess skin, and bands in the neck. There are several procedures that can be used to revitalize the neck. There is a surgical neck lift, in which the incisions are hidden to prevent visible scarring. An endoscopic neck lift utilizes very small incisions that heal completely without scarring. There are also non-invasive options for revitalizing the neck, such as a PDO thread lift, FaceTite, and Botox.

Before you choose a neck lift procedure, it is important to determine if you are a good candidate. Different neck lift procedures treat different cosmetic concerns. They are also targeted towards different demographics. Before you set your heart on a certain procedure, learn more about the requirements and needs of that treatment.

What Are My Options for a Neck Lift Without Scarring?

If you want a neck lift, you have 5 options:

  1. Neck lift surgery with small, strategically places incisions
  2. Endoscopic neck lift surgery
  3. Non-invasive PDO thread lift
  4. FaceTite for skin tightening
  5. Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport

If you have questions about any of these neck lift procedures, schedule a consultation with Dr. Qazi. He can determine which procedures will give you the best results.

Neck Lift Surgery: How to Avoid Visible Scars

This type of neck lift is surgical. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Qazi’s team of plastic surgeons. When you get this type of neck lift, you will be put under general anesthesia. The surgical team will then trim away excess skin and tighten the muscles of the neck.

A surgical neck lift is ideal for treating:

  • The appearance of bands around the neck
  • Deep wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sagging skin that forms jowls
  • Excess skin under the chin that creates a turkey neck
  • An aged appearance of the neck

Is a Traditional or Endoscopic Neck Lift Better for Not Having Visible Scars?

There are 2 types of neck lift surgery: a traditional neck lift and an endoscopic neck lift.

    Traditional Neck Lift

During a traditional neck lift, the surgical team strategically hides the incisions under the chin and in the hairline. This prevents others from noticing them. The incisions are normally small, so they will heal completely. However, this does not guarantee that you will not have a small scar after a traditional neck lift.

If you decide to get a traditional neck lift, you will need to take extra precautions to avoid visible scarring. Dr. Qazi recommends that patients do the following to minimize scarring:

    • Follow all care instructions, including how to clean the incisions
    • Avoid harsh chemicals and skin care products while recovering
    • Do not smoke or use nicotine products at all
    • Stay hydrated and eat a nutrient-rich diet
    • Avoid sun exposure as you recovery and always wear sunscreen even after recovery
    • Apply silicone scar strips to the incisions to prevent scarring as you heal

    Endoscopic Neck Lift

An endoscopic neck lift is normally recommended for patients with minimal excess skin. This procedure is often called a scarless neck lift. Endoscopic procedures are usually better for reducing scarring than traditional procedures. Small incisions normally heal better and fade into the skin more completely.

Who is a Good Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?

The ideal candidate for a surgical neck lift is anyone who:

    1. Has enough loose skin, banding, and sagging skin on the neck to justify the procedure
    2. Does not like the appearance of their neck and chin
    3. Is able to take time off work to recover from the procedure
    4. Has realistic expectations regarding their results
    5. Is in overall good physical health
    6. Does not have a bleeding disorder or a history of adverse reactions to anesthesia

PDO Thread Lift: The Non-Invasive Treatment for Sagging Skin

If you do not want to go under the knife, a PDO thread lift is a great alternative to a surgical neck lift. This procedure works best for people who have mild to moderate sagging skin. It is not able to treat bands on the neck, but it can improve skin quality without the need for surgery. Because this procedure does not require incisions, it is an effective scarless neck lift.

When you get a PDO thread lift, Dr. Qazi will perform the procedure himself at his Orange County office. PDO threads are skin-safe dissolvable threads with barbs on the end. First, Dr. Qazi will apply a topical numbing cream so that you don’t feel the needle. Next, he will insert the threads into the skin using a hollow needle. The barbs will painlessly catch in the skin of the neck. Dr. Qazi will lift, adjust, and trim the threads to tighten and lift your skin.

You will instantly see the anti-aging results when you leave the office. You will also get additional benefits in the months after the procedure. The threads will stimulate collagen production while they are in your skin. This will improve the texture and elasticity of your skin over time.

Because PDO threads are non-invasive, they are not as long-lasting as a surgical procedure. The threads will be safely absorbed by the body within 4 to 6 months. After that, you will need a follow-up appointment to maintain your results.

Who is a Good Candidate for PDO Threads?

Almost anyone can get a PDO thread lift to treat signs of aging. Because the procedure is non-invasive, it is ideal for most patients. Dr. Qazi normally recommends this procedure to younger patients with mild skin laxity. It is best for patients who do not have a phobia of needles or who want to try out the look.

A PDO thread lift is able to treat:

    • The appearance of jowls
    • Mild to moderate sagging skin on the face or neck
    • Loose, crepey skin on the neck
    • Lack of contour on the face and neck

How Can Botox Be Used for a Neck Lift?

Neurotoxins like Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport are extraordinarily versatile for improving your appearance. While they are most commonly used on the face, neurotoxins can also give you the results of a scar-free neck lift.

Botox paralyzes the muscles under the skin by blocking nerve signals. When the muscles stop contracting, the skin relaxes and wrinkles do not form.

When it comes to the neck, Botox is ideal for treating:

Botox appointments are always quick, painless, and involve no incisions, therefore no scarring. You can easily get neck Botox on your lunch break. The trade off is that Botox lasts 3 to 4 months in new patients and 4 to 6 months in experienced patients.

Dr. Qazi recommends a Botox neck lift for patients of all ages. The procedure is especially popular in younger patients in their 20s and 30s. As a preventive procedure, Botox can prevent aging in the neck and keep you looking younger for longer. Older patients can also get Botox. A Botox neck lift is best for patients with mild cosmetic concerns. Anything more severe than bands, light sagging, and wrinkles may require a more involved procedure.

FaceTite for a Minimally Invasive Scarless Neck Lift

If you want a neck lift without surgery, another option is FaceTite and its sister procedure BodyTite. FaceTite is like a combination of Renuvion and MicroLipo. The mechanism behind FaceTite is radiofrequency assisted liposuction (RFAL). The device melts the fat cells under the skin, then vacuums them out through a cannula. When heat is applied under the skin, it also causes the skin to contract. In addition to removing fat cells, this procedure has skin tightening properties.

FaceTite is often used on the face, but it is also suitable for the neck. This procedure is able to treat:

      • A double chin caused by fat deposits
      • Wrinkled and crepey skin
      • Loose skin on the neck
      • A mild amount of excess skin

FaceTite combines the effectiveness of a traditional neck lift with the ease of a minimally invasive procedure. For this procedure, local anesthetic or numbing cream is used. Dr. Qazi makes small incisions in the treatment area to access the underlying tissue. The device then liquifies the fat and removes it. After the procedure, the treatment area is dressed and you are sent home.

Even though FaceTite uses small incisions, it is still an excellent scarless procedure. The incisions are so small and shallow that they will heal without any new scarring.
