Temple Fillers – The Secret to Anti-Aging

It’s been said that your “body is the temple” and that you should worship it daily. That may be true, but because temples are parts of your body, you should pay attention to them with temple fillers, which are the secret to anti-aging.
What are other secrets to anti-aging?
Genetics is number one. Remember to always get plenty of sleep. Eat the right foods. Exercise as much as possible. Stay out of the sun. Don’t smoke or drink to excess. And try to live stress free, even in these stressful times.
What Are Temple Fillers?
Fillers in temples are a natural-looking, non-invasive treatment that can fill in the hollowness between your eyes and your ears –– and take years off your face –– in only about 20 minutes.
Why Do Our Temples Get Hollow With Age?
It’s no secret that age causes our bodies to change. When you’re in your teens and 20s, your facial skin is smooth and tight. As you get into your 30s and 40s, your facial muscles tend to loosen and start to sag slightly. But by the time you’re in your 50s, 60s, and beyond, your face –– and your body overall – is subject to gravity’s pull.
Your temples are no different.
They tend to sink with age and genetics, so that hollowed temples are often an area of concern. And many of our patients do not realize that they look older, more tired, or actually sick because of the hollowness in their temples.
What Are The Risks of Using Temple Fillings?
We’ll be honest. There are some risks involved with these types of treatments, which is why it’s very important to choose a medical professional with years of experience in using dermal fillers, and especially temple fillers.
You see, there are many blood vessels just below the skin between your eyes and your ears. If your medical professional is not careful, he or she may incorrectly inject the dermal filler and block a blood vessel, causing blindness and other possible problems.
However, these are very rare events among the millions of treatments performed annually for non-invasive facial procedures.
The good news is that Dr. Nadir Qazi of Qazi Cosmetic Clinic and Med Spa knows that your hollowness can be corrected with a variety of fillers in temples that are hyaluronic acid injectable products.
Which Dermal Filler Products Are Best for Hollowed Temples?
Some popular injectable dermal fillers are Juvéderm Voluma®, Restylane Lyft™, Galderma Sculptra® Aesthetic or Merz Radiesse®. The latter is FDA-approved, and all are safe, effective, and dissolvable HA (hyaluronic acid) fillers used for this treatment.
Dr. Nadir Qazi prefers a safe filler technique using HA Voluma or Restylane Lyft.
Depending on the particular patient’s needs, he injects either dermal filler deeply into the bone using a bolus, or a rounded mass technique, to help complete your aesthetic look with natural-looking volume and naturally appearing results.
For maximum safety, Dr. Qazi uses a four-step approach:
- First, he slowly advances the needle until he hits bone.
- Next, he pulls the syringe back far enough to ensure he is not in a blood vessel.
- Then, he slowly injects the specific temple fillings to gradually fill in the hollow area.
- Finally, he assesses the area, molds the injectable, and reinjects the temple fillers, but only if that is necessary.
What Is Hyaluronic Acid?
It’s been called “the holy grail” to wrinkle-free, youthful hydration. But hyaluronic acid (also known as HA) is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that is found throughout your body’s connective tissue as a carbohydrate, or sugar, called polysaccharides.
When used as fillers in temples and other places on your face, HA gives you skin structure, is used in gel dermal fillers to plump up your skin, and provide it with a hydrated look.
As an anti-aging ingredient, HA’s molecular weight is important for everything from anti-wrinkles and preventing sagging skin, to playing a pivotal role in wound healing, in moisturizing, in increasing your skin’s elasticity, treating eczema (dry, flaky skin), and treating facial redness.
Because it can also bind up to 1,000 times its weight in water, it can hold water molecules onto your skin’s surface to make it look very well moisturized, especially in hollowed temples.
What Are Some Benefits of Temple Filling?
With HA dermal fillers, the plan is to treat your face with an overall aesthetic improvement. Dr. Nadir Qazi strives for a more balanced and a more youthful overall look.

How Long Does This Treatment Take?
Patients report that this quick, easy, and effective, in-office treatment has minimal pain and only takes about 20 minutes from start to finish.
Dr. Qazi starts with a small injection of lidocaine, a numbing medication, with your choice of HA dermal filler at your injection sites in your temples.
How Long Do Temple Fillers Last?
When either Juvéderm Voluma or Restylane Lyft are used to fill a hollowed temple area, they offer natural-looking results almost immediately. However, as with most dermal fillers, the results look better over time.
This treatment typically has a duration of at least 6 to 12 months, and up to 18 months, depending on how well your body metabolizes the dermal filler. At that time, if you were pleased with your initial results, you can call Dr. Qazi to inquire about a follow-up procedure with new injections to keep your temples rounder vs. flatter.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Because a needle is being injected into the area between your eyes and ears:
- It is common for your skin to bruise. But when ice packs are applied, any bruising, redness, and swelling, will dissipate after a few days.
- It is also common that the muscles that can raise your eyebrows can be affected for several hours by lidocaine, but this also dissipates later in the day.
- Dr. Qazi may also add some saline with the HA filler to add a bit of extra volume to your temple areas.
- Skin discoloration, scarring, and numbness are rare, but may happen.
What Is The Cost For Temple Filling?
Prices can vary widely, depending on the degree of hollowness, the dermal product chosen, and the fact that some patients may need more HA filler, while others may require less.
Dr. Qazi will provide you with an estimated cost when you meet with him at the Qazi Cosmetic Clinic and Med Spa in Newport Beach for your initial temple fillers consultation.
Aftercare Instructions for A Temple Filling Procedure
After this non-surgical procedure, Dr. Nadir Qazi of the Qazi Cosmetic Clinic & Med Spa tells his patients that you may notice a little bruising, some swelling, and perhaps some tenderness where the injections took place in your temples.
However, all of these issues are common and should resolve themselves over the next few days to a week. As noted above, many patients experience relief by holding a lightweight cold compress or ice to their temple areas to help reduce any swelling.
Also, Dr. Qazi does not recommend that you exercise vigorously after getting temple fillings over the first 24 to 48 hours to let the Juvéderm Voluma or Restylane Lyft settle in in the areas where it was injected.
You should additionally avoid sun and heat, especially tanning beds, massages, as well as extreme cold.
Finally, Dr. Qazi recommends that you do not book any important events for three to at least six days after your temple filling procedure because of the minor swelling that can occur. And you should avoid taking blood thinners and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) because they potentially may increase bleeding.

What Are Other Uses for Juvéderm Voluma and Restylane Lyft?
Juvéderm and Restylane are two of the most well-known and widely used fillers brands available.
Juvéderm Voluma is the first FDA-approved dermal filler for improving check, mid-face and temple volume. Additionally, these temple fillers can provide you with a subtle lower facelift by lifting your jowls for instant results.
Meanwhile, the Restylane family of dermal fillers are produced by Galderma, the makers of Dysport. All Restylane products, like Juvéderm, are hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide immediate results and natural elegance to help refine and refresh your skin.
In fact, Restylane is the original hyaluronic acid dermal filler with over 40 million treatments to date.
Known as the world’s most diverse range of fillers that provide natural results for long-term satisfaction, Restylane products provide you with shape and contours through lift, fill and volume:
- Restylane Lyft shapes your facial contours when you need a lift to reduce signs of aging or to help you to sharpen your looks. It can be used in your temples, add volume to sunken cheeks, to treat moderate to severe folds around your mouth, and in your hands for a smoother, fuller, more useful appearance.
- Restylane Fill products provide long-lasting reduction of facial lines and wrinkles for a tailored, refined, and natural result that give you confidence.
- Restylane Volumize products create both volume and softness in your face, enhance your cheeks or lips, and help you regain volume lost with aging.
